The main symbol of the state is located in Plymouth, here the Mayflower II is moored at the pier – an exact copy of the Mayflower – the ship of the British, which docked on the shores of present-day Massachusetts in the 17th century. A well of interesting cultural attractions is Cambridge, here is the house-museum of the outstanding poet Henry Longfellow, he lived in Cambridge for almost 50 years. After the death of the poet, the beautiful mansion served for some time as the headquarters of George Washington.

Those wishing to experience the state’s industrial past should visit the town of Lowell. Here is an interesting National Historical Park, through which you can walk on foot or ride on a small old train. The most famous attraction in Brooklyn is the Lars Anderson Automobile Museum.The founder of the museum began collecting his collection back in 1899. In addition to unique antique cars, the museum houses an interesting collection of horse-drawn carriages.Among the priceless exhibits there are even sledges and bicycles, which are more than a hundred years old.

Pilgrims fleeing religious persecution in Britain arrived in Plymouth in 1620 aboard the Mayflower, establishing the first permanent European settlement in the north. Plymouth Rock marks the spot where pilgrims first landed. Visit a recreation of their village, populated by costumed translators who play the roles of real pilgrims to the Platinum Plantation, and learn about the life of the Native Americans who welcomed them to Homesamock’s Homesite. You can also take a guided tour of Mayflower II, a full-scale replica of the pilgrims’ ship.

The Pilgrim Museum opened in 1824 to showcase Pilgrim artifacts, furniture, decorative arts, paintings, and the remains of the Sparrow Hawk, the wooden ship that destroyed Cape Cod in 1626. Highlights include Governor Bradford’s Bible Charter, Miles Standish’s sword, and the original cradle used by Peregrine White, who was born in Mayflower. The Sparrow House, built in 1640 and Plymouth’s oldest surviving wooden house, shows how primitive the early settlers lived.
